a USDA-certified organic pick-your-own farm

Back-of-the-Yards, Chicago, Illinois

Pick-Your-Own

The Pie Patch is a pick-your-own farm, growing perennial fruits and annual vegetables traditionally used in pies: strawberries, apples, pears, plums, raspberries, rhubarb, sweet squash and pumpkin, sweet potatoes and concord grapes.

We believe in:

-growing to organic standards and incorporating some biodynamic principles

-cultivating habitat and forage for pollinators

-maintaining healthy soil through composting, no-till techniques and planting to build the soil, not take away from it

-affordable, healthy food for our neighborhood

-our community

How it works

The Pie Patch is open weekly for u-pick hours as fruits and vegetables are ready. Please check below, on Facebook, or call ahead of time. Cost is based on container size.

Site

The site has been a farm and garden in Chicago for over 30 years, benefitting from years of community groups and individuals creating healthy soil, planting a variety of beneficial plants and encouraging diverse insect, bird and microbial life.

tours and events

Private tours may be arranged by appointment and may cost on a per person basis for large groups. Special events may also be scheduled at the farm. Contact us for more information.
